About

This is the blog of Brian Elliott, born in 1963 in the small town of Falmouth, Trelawny, Jamaica. I was educated at William Knibb Memorial High School, Calabar High School and The College of Arts, Science & Technology (CAST) now called University of Technology (Utech). Although I majored in Marketing in College, I don’t like it, but it has helped me to stay in business for twenty years after starting off as a Teller in  a Bank in 1987. I got my first computer in 1989 back when almost no one else had it and the computer has been my companion since then. I even found time to do a diploma in computer repairs.

I am married with 3 kids.

My parish (Trelawny) has produced arguably some of the finest track & field athletes from any comparable area in the entire world. These athletes are all from within a 30 mile radius and include Usain Bolt (the world’s fastest man), Michael Frater, Omar Brown (Commonwealth 200m Champion who was taught by my brother at Albert Town High), Veronica Campbell (World 100m and Olympic 200m Champion), Marvin Anderson, the infamous Ben Johnson (who was a year or two ahead of me at Falmouth All-Age School ), Debbi-Ann Paris (Olympics 400m fifth place), Steve Mullings, Michael Green, Inez & Yvette Turner (Olympic 800m)to name a few. Indeed, 3 out of 4 members of Jamaica’s male 4×100m relay team for this Olympics are from this parish. We are truly special.

My areas of interest can be seen on the Tag Cloud on the right of my StumbleUpon Profile page. You may realise how much I love photography, so it is no surprise that my first blog (Amateur Photoblogger) was a photoblog. The photoblog is now set so I can now concentrate on this “everything else” blog which is great for expressing whatever I want to say.

My domain dejagib.com is not very SEO friendly, but I deliberately chose that as I wanted a truly unique footprint on the web. Dejagib is an acronym of the middle names of my three kids in order of seniority: DEmar, JAantje and GIBran. I don’t think anyone else in the world will be silly enough to choose that name.

The name “Blog To The World” came to me through a current Jamaican dance move called “To The World.”  I thought “blog to the world” sounded great and appropriate as the blog was a general one with no specific niche and indeed, it was targeted to the entire world. A quick google of the term didn’t throw up anything much so here I am!
