The gold medal winning, world record breaking run of Usain Bolt in the 200 meters men at the Bird’s Nest Stadium in Beijing, China (19.30 seconds) further strengthened by the Olympic record breaking run of Melanie Walker in the 400 meters hurdles final (54.62), sparked off wild celebrations starting in Usain’s hometown of Sherwood Content, near Falmouth in Trelawny. There was a massive motorcade and partying throughout the day and night.
Productivity was at its lowest in history as almost everyone took to the streets in wild celebrations that end with a street dance in Sherwood. I was too tired to make it to Sherwood in the night but here are some photos taken during the day, The full photo set can be found here on my photo blog.

usain bolt made every jamaican proud i grew up in sherwood, my mother and family lives there, i attend waldensia primary school so you can imagine how i feel, this is jamaica;s moment in time.
You are so right, every Jamaican is indeed proud of Usain. The most important thing he has done is his display of confidence that has annoyed some people but no doubt has helped him and the other Jamaican athletes to truly believe in their abilities.
This confidence and dominance will inspire the performance of Jamaican kids for decades to come.
This is so interesting to note. I was offered a job in the United States of America at a High school which i gladly accepted. Upon my arrival it was quickly announced that i was from Sherwood Content Jamaica, the home of Usain Bolt. To my surprise i was asked to be an assistant coach for the Track and Field team due to the fact that I and Usain are from The Sherwood Content. I am so happy for him and am sure all Jamaica is proud of him as well.
Respect.
